Let’s Talk Technology: BIM, Revit and ACC
It’s no industry secret, Building Information Modeling (BIM) allows Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) teams to be more efficient with workflows and effective with our clients’ designs.
BIM is a workflow approach that focuses on early creation and data management. If utilized effectively, the process begins with preliminary design efforts and extends through the full lifecycle of a project including building operations and maintenance. At Bessolo Design Group, Inc. and KEM Engineers, Inc., we have dedicated staff focused on streamlining BIM strategies and incorporating software platforms such as the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, HIVE, and Enscape. These various options allow our in-house and external teams to effectively execute multi-disciplinary collaboration and coordination.
“As part of our BIM initiative, we model all disciplines in Revit as a first step which provides 3D enhancement to the design process. During each project, our Architects, Engineers and Interior Designers are able to perform integral real-time cloud-based design coordination in the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).”
- Kevin J. Bessolo, AIA President of Bessolo Design Group
The second image included below is a screenshot of a project utilizing the ACC. As identified, there is a visual comparison between two published versions of the modeled building. This tool allows our team to quickly identify conflicts, prompting internal discussions on how to revise those items during our BIM workflow and prior to construction.
As new processes and software become available within our industry, there will be a greater opportunity for more fluid communication, realistic 3D visualization and Augmented Reality (AR). Clients want a quality outcome and realistic visualization as their projects gain headway. Our goal at Bessolo Design Group, Inc. is to ensure we deliver on those desires through technology advancements.
